On April 11, 2025, LWD had the honor of hosting a delegation from Manchester University, recommended by Rwamagana District, for a courtesy visit to the LWD TVET Center in Rwamagana. The visit aimed to share experiences around youth and women empowerment and to showcase the impact of the Masengembahafi program.
During the exchange, our Executive Director, Jean Claude Mwiseneza, warmly welcomed the guests and highlighted the critical role of partnerships in supporting vulnerable youth and women. He reflected on Masengembahafi as a safe space that continues to transform lives by promoting dialogue, building confidence, and offering access to practical skills.

The visitors engaged with several girls enrolled in the program. One young leader of the class gave a confident presentation on the Masengembahafi program’s impact both in the community and in her own life. Her testimony was a powerful reminder of how creating safe, empowering spaces allows youth to find their voices and lead change.

Manchester University visitors listen attentively as beneficiaries share their personal experiences and dreams for the future.Another moving moment came from a girl who shared her personal journey: growing up in difficult conditions, with limited opportunities, and struggling to find hope. After enrolling in hairdressing training at LWD TVET Center, a school designed especially for vulnerable youth, her life took a new direction. She now works in a salon, earning her own income and building a better future.
I used to struggle every day, but now I work in a salon.” One of the girls shares how LWD’s hairdressing training helped her rise above hardship.
The visit concluded with a sense of shared purpose and optimism. Guests expressed admiration for the courage of the girls and the impact of LWD’s approach. LWD remains committed to strengthening its programs and partnerships to continue empowering Rwanda’s youth and women.
