At SICO – Samuduha Integrated College, located in Kabeza, some young girls from Bugesera District are learning plumbing a job that many people think is only for men. But these girls are showing that they can do it too.

Falicite, a student from Nyamata Sector, says she chose to learn plumbing because she wants to do something different.
“I wanted to learn a skill that can help people,” she said. “Many people said plumbing is only for boys, but I know I can do it too. I feel proud of myself.”

Diane, who comes from Kamabuye Sector, also studies plumbing at SICO.
“At first, I was afraid to use tools. But now, I enjoy it,” Diane said. “I want to use this skill to earn money and take care of myself.”
These girls are just some of the students at SICO who are studying plumbing. They are supported by METITO, Kigali Water Ltd, Plan International Rwanda, and Learn Work Develop (LWD). These partners are helping girls learn new skills so they can have better jobs in the future.
“I’m very happy for this chance,” said Falicite. “Without the support from these Sponsors, I would not be here.”
One student also talked about how important water is in people’s lives:
“Water is life,” she said. “You can’t do anything without water. After I finish school, I want to give people water and that means I’m giving them life.”
Now, these girls are not only learning a job they are becoming leaders. They are building a new future for themselves, and showing that girls can do anything.

We would like to give our deepest thanks to METITO and Kigali Water Ltd for their amazing support.
Because of you, young girls are getting the chance to learn plumbing a skill that gives them hope, confidence, and a better future.
Your support is not just helping students in the classroom. You are helping build a stronger Rwanda, where girls are free to dream, learn, and lead.
Thank you for believing in their power. Thank you for investing in their future.
You are not just providing water you are giving life, opportunity, and change.
