On 27–28 August 2026, Learn Work Develop (LWD), had the honor of hosting the AMPLIFY GIRLS National Learning Exchange, joined by AMPLIFY Girls Co-CEO Lucy Minayo and fellow Rwanda partners: GURD- Rwanda, Impanuro Girls Initiative (IGI) , Komera, Our Sisters Opportunity-OSO’ , and Rwanda Esther’s Initiative (REI)
DAY ONE | EXPERIENCING MASENGE MBA HAFI
The first day took the delegation to Gatsibo District, where they visited LWD’s community Safe Spaces and experienced the Masenge Mba Hafi Model.
Meaning “Please Aunt, Be Close to Me,” Masenge Mba Hafi is LWD’s home-grown community approach that brings trusted community members closer to young people, creating safe spaces where they can speak openly, access information and support, and find pathways toward positive change.
During the visit, the delegation heard directly from participants through testimonies and stories of transformation, witnessing how the model connects community support, SRHR awareness, protection, Inclusive and opportunities for vulnerable young people.
DAY TWO | FROM LEARNING TO SKILLS
On the second day, the delegation visited the LWD TVET Center in Rwamagana, where they witnessed how vocational skills are creating opportunities for young people and contributing to transformation in the community.
The visit concluded with a reflection meeting, where partners shared lessons and reflections from the two-day learning journey.
HONORING RAÏSSA’S LEGACY
Together with Lucy Minayo, LWD and fellow AMPLIFY Girls partners, we later went to Rusororo to pay tribute to Raïssa at her resting place, where flowers were laid on her grave in remembrance of her life, her work and her commitment to girls and young women.
The two days reminded us that learning is not only about sharing experiences—it is also about witnessing transformation, strengthening partnerships and carrying forward the legacy of those who dedicated themselves to the same cause.
