On January 18, 2025, the vibrant hills of Rwanda witnessed an extraordinary event – the 5th edition of the Rwanda Heroes Cycling Race. This year marked a historic moment for the LWD Cycling Team as they competed for the first time in this prestigious race. The event wasn’t just about sports; it was a heartfelt tribute to the heroes who fought valiantly for Rwanda’s freedom and the rights of its people.
Our team brought unparalleled energy to the race, with five exceptional girls leading the charge. Among them was our young star, Irasetsa, whose determination and skill captured the hearts of everyone. Irasetsa’s strength and strategy shone through as she secured an impressive second place a monumental achievement for her and the team.
This success not only highlighted Irasetsa’s incredible talent but also marked a significant milestone for the “Bike for Future” project. This initiative aims to demonstrate that girls are just as capable as boys and can achieve greatness in any field they pursue. Amina’s performance proved that with the right support and opportunities, girls too can rise to become heroes and break barriers in traditionally male-dominated arenas.
The atmosphere was electric, with cheers echoing across the landscapes as cyclists honored Rwanda’s heroes through their resilience and teamwork. For the LWD Cycling Team, this was more than a race; it was a powerful symbol of gratitude and hope. Itasetsa’s podium finish served as a beacon of inspiration, encouraging young girls across Rwanda to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.
As we now look forward to the official Heroes Day celebration on February 1, 2025, the memories of this race remain a proud reminder of our heroes’ legacy and the spirit of unity they inspire. With such promising beginnings, the LWD Cycling Team and the “Bike for Future” project are poised to pave the way for even greater accomplishments in the years to come.
